Facts and Tips

Energy consumption: Your HVACR equipment accounts for as much as 40% of your overall building’s energy consumption. Properly cleaned, maintained and efficiently operating equipment can reduce this amount by 5-20%. This represents significant savings for you and reduces your buildings impact on the environment. Equipment life expectancy: The cost to replace your HVACR equipment is one of the most expensive costs associated with your building. All HVACR equipment manufacturers specify that improper maintenance, inspection and service of their equipment will shorten the life expectancy and void the manufacturer’s equipment warranties.

The air you breathe: Unfortunately pollution is everywhere and with the types of cleaning products, manmade goods and activities conducted in our buildings the indoor environment can become very uncomfortable. Even the air we consider to be “fresh” outdoor air has as many as 30 million dust or pollutant particles per cubic foot. There are measures that can be taken to lessen the effects of these particles on our indoor environment. Since our indoor environment is essentially an enclosed system, we are able to control the pollution in our air. By moving the air through a high efficiency air cleaner, we can remove many of the pollutants that cause discomfort.

The truth about mold: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cautions that all molds can cause health problems under the right conditions. The word toxic is used refer to mold that produce toxic compounds, or mycotoxins. HVACR mechanical systems are not generators of mold. Their metallic surfaces do not provide the organic matter mold needs to grow. However systems that are not properly maintained could support mold growth.

It is important that your systems:

* Be designed and installed correctly
* Be properly maintained and cleaned
* Control the moisture in the building
* Use good filtration methods to keep your air clean
